EV Charging Stations in Austin

2024 Honda Prologue Elite AWD

Public EV charging stations are everywhere in Austin. When you’re charging your new Honda EV, you’ll need to find a public EV charging station with CCS charging standard for DC Fast Charging. Whether you have a new Honda CR-V hybrid or an Accord hybrid, or a used Clarity PHEV, you can plug in these plug-in hybrids to charge their batteries in a few minutes at a DC Fast Charging station.

Once the 2024 model years arrive, look for an all-electric Honda Prologue SUV, and then a larger one will be available after that. You’ll need public charging stations during the day to keep up with your busy lifestyle.

Take a look at the EV charging stations in Austin when you need to charge away from home.

Austin MetroBike, 811 Electric Drive

The Austin MetroBike station has several DC Fast Charging stations on site. But watch out for cyclists as they charge their electric bikes. Go for the CCS chargers that work at 125 kWh. This charging station sits on the aptly named Electric Drive, right along the river south of downtown.

There are several points by the river parks and bike trailheads that offer public charging stations.

Target & Whole Foods, 901 E. 5th Street

Head into the parking garage of Target and Whole Foods to charge your Honda PHEVs while you shop. Pick up some food, purchase some weekly supplies, and charge your SUV or sedan quickly and easily.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

You’ll find several public charging stations around the outskirts of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. If you’re staying in a hotel near the airport, chances are good that one of them will have a few EV charging stations for their customers to use.

How to Find EV Charging Stations

Google Maps outlines where many of these public charging stations are located. You can also use the HondaLink® app on your phone as well as the in-dash navigation of your new vehicle. These tools will use your current location to guide you to the nearest public charging station using turn-by-turn directions. Most of the public charging stations you want to look for in Austin are from ChargePoint, a network of electric charging stations across the city and all over the country.

One thing to note is that costs will vary. If you charge at peak times, during the day, it may cost you more versus charging at night. The average cost is 30 to 40 cents per kWh. Considering the batteries in the PHEVs are around 1 to 1.3 kWh, charging at a public station in Austin will be relatively inexpensive.
