2023 Honda IIHS Awards

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) designated both the 2023 Honda Accord and 2023 Honda Pilot as a Top Safety Pick+, and seven of the brand’s models were rated as a Top Safety Pick or higher. The 2023 Honda Accord

Not only was the 2023 Honda Accord chosen as an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, but it also outperformed six other midsize sedans in the organization’s updated moderate overlap testing. It was the only model to earn the top ratings of “Good” in all rear passenger injury measures.

The updated test was designed to encourage automakers to improve rear-seat protection. During the test, a crash test dummy is placed in the rear seat behind the driver. To achieve an overall rating of “Good,” there can’t be an excessive risk of injury to the head, neck, chest, or thigh, as recorded by the crash test dummy in the second row. Measurements taken from the crash test dummy in the Honda Accord showed no heightened risk of injuries.

The Honda Pilot was also named a Top Safety Pick+ and earned top ratings from the IIHS in Crash Avoidance & Mitigation evaluations.
