By 2030, it is anticipated that the US will sell more electric cars than any other type of vehicle. According to the NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory), there will be an estimated 30-42 million plug-in vehicles on North American roads by that time, and those EVs will require 182,000 DC fast chargers spread across the continent.

The US Department of Energy estimates that as of July 2023, 2.3 million American drivers had used 32,000 publicly available DC fast chargers. That works out to 72 cars per charger. In the greater Cedar Park area and the rest of the continent, an expanded EV charging infrastructure is needed. So what’s expected with this change, First Texas Honda has all the information for our Round Rock and Austin customers.

Major Automakers Cooperate on High-Powered Charging Network

If you’re taking on the San Marcos commute in a hybrid Honda Accord, charging will be more convenient! To install at least 30,000 new high-powered charging stations across North America, major international automakers BMW Group, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz Group, and Stellantis NV will combine private funding and public investments at the state and federal levels.

Some flagship locations will offer drivers conveniences like restrooms and shopping options. The intention is to design a top-notch charging experience with the customer’s needs. The first locations are anticipated to offer Combined Charging System (CCS) and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors as early as summer 2024.
